An incredible turnout and team performance steers Sarum safely into the Compass Sport Trophy Final.
On a crisp cold day with frost on the ground and puddles turned to ice, 10 clubs competed in the Compass Sport Cup & Trophy Heats at Holmsley, for places in the final.
There were 3 large clubs competing for the Compass Sport Cup and 8 small clubs competing for the trophy.
Both WIM & SARUM go through to the final for the Trophy.
SARUM were only 8 points behind WIM and well clear of the other Trophy clubs.

SARUM had over 50 club members enter these heats, which may well be a record for our club and meant that we were the 2nd best represented club, ahead of two “large” clubs and the rest of our trophy rivals.
We are very pleased particularly with the number of our juniors who competed. Bearing in mind that we were competing against 7 other Trophy clubs, 42% of all the juniors competing in the Trophy heat were from SARUM.
In a technically difficult area, kudos to anyone who moved up a class to give us a better spread. Of particular note is that a few of our juniors ran the green courses for their category and we are so pleased to see how well they all did considering.
Well done to everyone, especially to Des and Marc who won their respective courses, but all who turned up helped us score valuable points and blocked out other teams.
On the whole, it was a wonderful performance by all involved and we have a really good chance for the final if we manage turn up in similar numbers.
The final will be hosted by BOK on 12th November in New Beechenhurst, Forest of Dean.
