Schools

Sarum Orienteering Club is keen to promote orienteering in schools and among youth groups. The Club has links with Schools Sports Partnerships in Salisbury, Warminster and Avon Valley.

We have a thriving Salisbury Schools Forest League with termly events in local woods and annual competitions run in Stonehenge School, Amesbury and Kingdown School, Warminster – leading to the annual Wiltshire Schools Games in July (being held at Marlborough College for 2019).

The Club is also keen to see juniors come to the monthly Junior Club on Monday evenings, based in various or Sainsbury’s park areas.   We are also keen to encourage young people & their parents to attend our local Orienteering events where coaching is always available for both beginners and improvers (this can include the parents!). Details of events and the Junior Club activities are on our website.

The British Orienteering Federation can organise accredited courses for teachers. Local teachers intending to introduce orienteering into their school have attended this course.

If you need advice or help in introducing orienteering into your school or youth group, please contact Liz Yeadon by email (fixtures@sarumo.org.uk) or on 07990 734576
