Sauntering in Grovely

Wondering what's ahead
Wondering what’s ahead

240 orienteers travelled from as far away as Cornwall and Ayr to take part in the Sarum Saunter in Grovely Wood.   Although the woodland looks to be open the thick undergrowth makes some parts of the wood very difficult to run through at speed making route choice important.  Mark White wrestled with the terrain and late map updates to produce some challenging courses with the insightful assistance of Controller John Warren.  Despite the challenges, or because of them, the feedback at Download was that most competitors enjoyed themselves and appreciated what Sarum had put on offer.
