A large Sarum contingent took part in this year’s November Classic located this year at New Park between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst. The forecasts for heavy rain didn’t bode well but, in the event, the rain largely held off for the runners, apart from the occasional short, but intense, showers. An added bonus was that a grassy run in did wonders for shoe cleaning.
Our neighbours SOC had a busy time putting on an event that hosted the Senior home internationals, UKOL. SCOA Championships and a junior selection race for Interland 2023 as well the usual November Classic ranking event. There were all the usual constraints imposed by Natural England and Forestry England but SOC still managed to create a big event feel to everything.
Notable Sarum performances included Megan Ashton (1st, W35), Rob Ashton (3rd, M35), Dave Battison (5th, M75), Des Dickinson (4th, M40), Charlotte Thornton (3rd, W75), Barnes Dickinson (3rd, M10) and Rob Elston (13th, M21). It was great to see so many Sarum juniors running – congratulations to all of them (and to their parents for bringing the youngsters). There were lots of good performances but far too many results to pick them all out here. A full list of Results, by class or course, can be found here.
Thanks should go to Organisers Colin Hicks and Alastair Moir and all the SOC volunteers who contributed to a well run event. Thanks also to Planner Kevin Bracher and Controller Roger Crickmore.
