SARUM Club Championships – 2026

The SARUM Club Champs, at Larkhill Camp on Sun 19 Jul 26, were well attended by 40 club members, including 6 families with juniors. There were 31 runners competing at the Champs, in Junior, Senior and Supervet competitions. This was a great way to get a lot of the club together and enjoy a braai afterwards. Everyone seemed to enjoy the challenge of the urban-style course with added maze complexity, even though some blatant hurdling of uncrossable maze was observed by other runners. Des and Kerry had spent ages building it too! The courses were planned as loops, and many of the controls used guns and rockets stationed around the camp to make it a bit more interesting. Many thanks to Des for planning the courses to keep people on their toes. Jerry very kindly issued dibbers, set up the start with Christian and ran the Download. Ian and Freda, with some additional help, ran the braai and brought all the burgers and sausages. All other club members contributed to the amazing spread of salads and cakes. The results are available in the results section but these are the worthy winners of the competitions:

The Overall Men’s Trophy was won by Ed Halsey and the Overall Women’s Trophy by Jilly Tovey.

The Supervet Men’s Trophy was won by Ian Peirce and the Supervet Women’s Trophy by Charlotte Thornton, they share the Muriel Lay Rose Bowl.

The Junior Men’s Trophy was won by Christian Corkery and the Junior Women’s Trophy by Elara Jacobs.

Many thanks to Christian Corkery and Rhodes Dickinson for helping make the individual keepsake trophies with an artillery theme.
