It was a bright but really cold day at Long Valley when 42 members of SARUM Orienteering Club turned up to take part in the Southern Navigators hosted CompassSport Cup and Trophy Final on Sunday. The wood was typical Army terrain with lovely pine woods to run through but many tank tracks to confuse! The message was keep your head up, stay in contact with the map and know where you are at all times … otherwise you’ll get very lost! Several people found this to be true! However our combined efforts were rewarded as we were awarded 3rd place in the CompassSport Trophy completion (the competition for small clubs). The list of people who provided the points towards this result is attached as is the list of all of the Sarum runners with their times and points. The full results are on the Southern Navigators website.
Special mention should be made of Lucy Butt who came 1st in the Womens’ Green Class and Paul Lane who came 3rd in the Trophy Blue Mens’ Race – well done to them both!
Many thanks to Charlotte Thornton, as Club Captain, for her efforts to get us all there and for organising the fun club prizes after the event – a great atmosphere!
