As we were unable to hold our event at Farleigh School on the preferred date there was a late change of venue to The Moot at Downton. It is some time since we used the Moot which, although small in area, lacks nothing in complexity giving Planner Liz Yeadon plenty of scope to fit in three different challenges (Micro O course lacking control descriptions and circles round controls, Odds and Evens, and a spiral line course.) This made for some complex computer work with results but it all turned out ok on the day. Perhaps not surprisingly many competitors missed the odd control, for which there was a time penalty. Liz kindly planned a course for the mobility impaired amongst us which, apart from the first/last control – prior to relocation, was very much appreciated and enjoyed. As someone who knows the Moot quite well I recognised where many of my controls would be found but this didn’t make things easy as everything had grown since last I orienteered there. Thanks Liz, for all your hard work in planning and setting out the courses. Thanks also to those who volunteered to collect and sort controls. Everybody enjoyed themselves with the orienteering and worked up an appetite for the subsequent barbeque held in the grounds of Chateau Blanc in Morgans Vale, courtesy of Mark and Viv.

Planning and organising the event was obviously hard work but a lot of effort went in to organising the barbecue gathering afterwards. So, a big thank you Sarum for providing the barbecued food and to all those Sarum folk who contributed salads of amazing variety and loads of yummy desserts. Special thanks to Viv and Mark for hosting the event in their lovely garden and someone up there for the fine weather.
This was an event very much targeted at enjoyment. Nevertheless it was our Club Championships so results are important and they can be found here.
