has several members who are afflicted with this habit and who welcome the changing of the clocks that means they can soon be heading out to participate in the dark side of our sport. In all fairness, this enthusiasm does lead to some good results as witness the recent Southern Night Championships which this year were organised by London Orienteering Klubb. Responding to the challenging courses on difficult terrain at Holmbury Hill near Dorking, Surrey the club ‘nighties’ performed well coming home with three Champions, Charles Bromley Gardner (M55 class), Ian Peirce (M70) and Charlotte Thornton (W70).
Sarum made a clean sweep on the podium for the M70 class with Brian Hart (2nd) and Richard Thornton (3rd); Pat Hart took 2nd place in W70.
