There was a good turnout of 723 runners for the ever-popular November Classic, run this year on Kings Garn Gutter. After the easy going underfoot of the Salisbury City Race, runners found this a greater challenge; tough terrain and navigation and very wet underfoot – with some unexpected mispunchers and missed punchers in the results lists. Fortunately, the weather was somewhat brighter than in Salisbury the previous day which made many look quite cheerful on the walk back to assembly.
Sarum orienteers who figured at the top end of their classes included Robert Elston (2nd on Blue), David Oxenham (5th on Short Green). In age groups, Ed Halsey was 12th in M45, Marc Balston 10th in M50, Dave Mullins and Dave Battison were in 17th and 18th places on M75 – just 2 seconds apart – Ian Peirce was 4th in M80, Jo Halsey 10th in W45, Charlotte Thornton 8th in W75, and Joan Hambleton 3rd in W80.

Thanks to SOC for hosting another great event, the event officials and all the helpers on the day. Apologies for the delayed, and rather brief, report blame it on Covid.
