Night Owl Triumphs

Armed with only a map, compass and headtorch, our very own Charlotte Thornton recently achieved two notable successes in major night orienteering competitions. Charlotte recently won the W75 Southern Night Orienteering Championships held at Tweseldown near Aldershot over a challenging course hosted by the British Army.

Charlotte followed that with a fine Silver Medal in the W75 class at the British Night Orienteering Championships held on Cleeve Hill near Cheltenham and organised by North Gloucester Orienteers. The bitterly cold North wind, that kept most of us at home by the fire, together with ground covered in snow and ice made the courses extremely challenging making Charlotte’s podium place particularly well earned.

Charlotte (picture, right) was rightly proud of her second place and second podium spot in two weeks.
